T.G. Bradford
Tennessee
c. 1838 · Hand-colored engraving
A handsome hand-colored engraving of Tennessee by T.G. Bradford, published in Boston and entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1838 by T.G. Bradford in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Massachusetts. Engraved by G.W. Boynton. The map shows the full extent of the state with all counties delineated in soft pastel hand coloring — pink, green, yellow, and lavender — with rivers, towns, and the Tennessee River system carefully rendered. Nashville is prominently shown at center. The surrounding states of Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi are indicated. A fine example of mid-19th century American atlas cartography in excellent original condition.
